Who are we looking for?

 

AAA Life is seeking a strategic and analytical leader to serve as Senior Manager, Market Research. In this role, you will define and execute the company’s research strategy, delivering actionable insights that shape key business decisions and drive long-term growth. As a trusted advisor to senior leadership, you will translate complex market data into clear, strategic recommendations. This role involves leading a high-performing research team, managing core programs like competitive analysis and voice of the customer, and working cross-functionally to deepen our understanding of customer needs and market trends.

Responsibilities

How will you contribute?

  • Develop and execute the market research strategy to align with AAA Life’s long-term business objectives.

  • Advise senior leadership and cross-functional teams (Marketing, Distribution, Product, and Operations) by providing data-driven insights that influence key decisions.

  • Lead and mentor a high-performing research team, ensuring the delivery of impactful insights and recommendations.

  • Synthesize complex market and customer insights into clear, compelling recommendations for C-suite executives, driving strategic initiatives.

  • Design and oversee research initiatives that support product and service ideation, prioritization, testing, and refinement across the customer journey.

  • Manage and enhance key research programs, including competitive analysis and voice of the customer, ensuring they deliver meaningful business value.

  • Collaborate with Data Analytics teams to continuously refine customer insights and improve decision-making.

  • Oversee key vendor partnerships, ensuring external research efforts align with business priorities.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

What do you offer?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Data Analytics, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).

  • 9+ years of progressive experience in Market Research, with at least 3 years in a leadership role—preferably within the Life Insurance industry or a related financial services sector.

  • Proven track record in developing and executing research strategies that support life insurance product development, customer segmentation, distribution, and customer experience.

  • Experience leading competitive intelligence, customer insights, and market trend analysis within the life insurance space.

  • Deep understanding of life insurance consumer behaviors, including purchase drivers, policyholder retention, and customer lifecycle trends.

  • Strong proficiency in both quantitative and qualitative research methodologies, including survey design, conjoint analysis, segmentation studies, focus groups, and journey mapping—specifically within the insurance sector.

  • Ability to interpret complex actuarial, underwriting, and claims data to inform product, marketing, and operational strategies.

  • Advanced proficiency in SQL for manipulating large datasets, as well as experience with SPSS, Qualtrics, and other research tools used in the insurance industry.

  • Skilled in data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or similar platforms to create compelling, data-driven presentations tailored for senior leadership.

  • Strong understanding of regulatory considerations and compliance in life insurance market research, including NAIC guidelines, state regulations, and ethical research practices.

  • Familiarity with customer acquisition, distribution channels (e.g., agency, direct-to-consumer, digital), and product innovation within the life insurance space.

  • Experience managing external research vendors, industry benchmarking studies, and competitive intelligence efforts to track emerging trends in the life insurance market.
